Getting started
There is no setup. Open app.nookmarker.com and start adding things — an account is only needed if you want your data synced across devices.
- Add a bookmark or folder — use the + buttons at the top of the left pane.
- Rename, re-icon or delete anything — right-click it.
- Rearrange — drag and drop, including in and out of folders.
Want the guided version? Take the tour (desktop only) — it walks through the workspace in about a minute, and you can replay it any time from your account menu (“Take a tour”). On a phone the app switches to a simpler layout that skips the tour, so this link won’t start anything there — open it on a computer instead.
Keyboard shortcuts
Press ? inside the app to see this list at any time.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| / | Focus search |
| Ctrl K | Focus search, even while typing |
| N | New bookmark |
| 1 2 3 | Switch to Bookmarks / Projects / Notes |
| ? | Show the shortcut list |
| Esc | Close the open dialog, menu or drawer |
Shortcuts pause while you are typing, and the whiteboard keeps its own keys while it is open.
Where your data lives
Every change is saved on your device first, then synced if you are signed in. Losing your connection never loses your work — the app keeps running and catches up when you are back online.
Signed out, everything stays on that one device and nothing leaves it. Signing in adds a private cloud copy; it does not take the local one away.
Accounts & sync
- Free is unlimited. Every tool, no caps, saved on your device.
- Premium adds one thing: a private cloud copy that syncs across your devices.
- Widgets stay on the device they were set up on — they are not synced.
Signed in on two devices and something looks out of date? Reload the newer one. If a change was made in two places at once, NookMarker keeps a copy rather than overwriting you, and tells you it did.
Exporting your bookmarks
Settings → Export downloads your bookmarks as a standard browser bookmarks file, which Chrome, Edge and Firefox can all import directly. The same screen imports one back in.
Browser extension
The Save Page extension adds the page you are on to NookMarker in one click, keeping its title, icon and description.
- Chrome — install from the Chrome Web Store
- Edge — under review by the store; we will link it here once it is live.
Installing NookMarker as an app
- Chrome / Edge (desktop or Android) — open the app and use the install prompt, or the account menu's “Install app”.
- iPhone / iPad — open the app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Once installed it opens in its own window and still works offline.
A few browsers show a security warning during the install, saying the app is built for an older version of Android. This comes from the way that browser packages the app for your phone, not from NookMarker, and the installed app is unaffected. Installing from Chrome avoids the warning.
Something looks wrong
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| “Offline” pill | No connection. Keep working — everything saves locally and syncs later. |
| “Syncing” pill | You are back online and the catch-up is running. Nothing to do. |
| Sync failed | Your data is safe on this device. Reload; if it keeps failing, email us. |
| Old version after an update | Refresh the page once (F5). |
| An icon is missing | Report it in Settings → Feedback with the address — we add it to the shared icon set. |
Still stuck?
Email [email protected], or use Settings → Feedback inside the app. Telling us what you were doing just before it happened is the single most useful thing you can include.
